Kazakhstan's shipping freight volume is projected to decline significantly by 2028. The volume is expected to drop to approximately 18 million tonne-kilometers from around 25 million tonne-kilometers in 2023, marking an annual decrease of 4.5% on a compound annual growth rate basis. The downward trend in Kazakhstan's shipping freight volume is not a recent development. Since 2012, the country's supply has been on a decline, falling by an average of 8.1% year over year. In the global ranking for 2023, Kazakhstan secured the 19th position. Switzerland, with an identical volume of 25 million tonne-kilometers, edged out Kazakhstan for a higher spot. Leading the rankings were the Netherlands, Germany, and Romania, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
