Vietnamese meat consumption is projected to reach around 6.5 million metric tons by 2026, a 0.5% increase from 2021. In 2017, the demand for meat in Vietnam grew by 0.4% year-on-year. In 2021, the country was 8th in the rankings, behind Japan which consumed 6.3 million metric tons. The United States, Brazil and Russia came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Meanwhile, meat production in Vietnam is expected to reach 5.7 million metric tons by 2026, an increase of 1.5% from 2021. Since 1966, the supply of meat in the country has been increasing by 1.3% year-on-year. In 2021, Vietnam was 12th in the rankings, with Canada in the lead at 5.2 million metric tons. The United States Virgin Islands, Brazil and Russia were the next three in line.
