Zambia is set to see a steady rise in consumption and production of sunflower oil over the next five years. In 2021, the country ranked 46th in consumption with 23 thousand metric tons and 37th in production with 20,210 metric tons. This is an increase from 2017, when consumption saw a 4.8% year on year jump and production a 5% year on year rise. Thailand overtook Zambia in consumption this year, leading the ranking with 23 thousand metric tons. Russia, Spain, and Argentina followed in respective positions. Canada led the production ranking, with Russia, Argentina and Hungary coming in at numbers 2, 3, and 4. By 2026, Zambian consumption is projected to reach 30.1 thousand metric tons and production 24,600 metric tons, growing 4.3% and 3.3% year on year respectively.
