In 2021, Italy ranked 11th globally, with Kazakhstan just ahead at 259 thousand metric tons. Russia, Spain and Argentina followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. Meanwhile, the country's own production of sunflower oil is expected to decline by 0.3% year-on-year over the same period, reaching 145,570 metric tons in 2026. In 2021, the United States exceeded Italy's production, which was at 148,190 metric tons. Russia, Argentina and Hungary came in second, third and fourth places respectively.
