Spanish sunflower oil consumption is forecast to increase to 586,000 metric tons by 2026, from 573,000 metric tons in 2021 – an average growth rate of 0.3% year-on-year. Since 2017, demand for the oil has grown by 0.4% annually. In 2021, Spain was the third largest consumer, behind Russia and Argentina. Production of sunflower oil in Spain is expected to reach 550,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 521,850 metric tons in 2021 – an average yearly growth rate of 0.9%. Since 1966, production has jumped by 4.4% annually. In 2021, Romania was the leading producer, followed by Russia, Argentina and Hungary.
