Consumption of sunflower oil in Romania is expected to reach around 200,000 metric tons in 2021, a 0.1% increase on the previous year. Romania has held steady since 2017, with Iraq leading the way in 2021 with 200,000 metric tons. Russia, Spain and Argentina followed in second, third and fourth place. Production of sunflower oil in Romania is forecast to reach nearly 600,000 metric tons by 2026, with an average year on year growth rate of 2%. Since 1966, Romanian production has increased by 7.8% annually. Bulgaria topped the 2021 rankings with 532,380 metric tons, followed by Russia, Argentina and Hungary.
