Iraq’s consumption of soybean oil is set to drop slightly in 2026, reaching 49 thousand metric tons. This is a 0.9% year-on-year decrease, despite a 2.8% rise since 2017. In 2021, Iraq ranked 45th in terms of soybean oil consumption, lagging behind Tunisia’s 51 thousand metric tons. The top three countries in this ranking were China, India, and Brazil. Iraq’s production of soybean oil decreased dramatically in 2018, falling to 6 metric tons from 39 metric tons in 2017. This was a 84.6% decrease compared to the previous year. Since 1975, Iraqi production has dropped by 39.5%. In 2018, the country ranked 96th, behind Jamaica’s 6 metric tons. The leading countries in this ranking were the United States, Brazil, and Argentina.
