Key Market Indicators
Senegal's spice consumption is projected to decline slightly over the next few years, falling to approximately 5,920 metric tons by 2028. This marks a 0.2% decrease year over year from the 6,000 metric tons recorded in 2023. Since 2019, the demand for spices in Senegal has remained stable. In the global ranking for 2023, Senegal held the 63rd position, with New Zealand just ahead, also consuming 6,000 metric tons. Leading the rankings were Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Thailand in the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. On the production side, Senegal has maintained a steady output. In 2018, the country's spice production was close to 5,000 metric tons, consistent with the figures from 2017. This stability highlights the country's consistent role in the spice market, despite fluctuations in consumption.
