Despite this downward trend, the demand for spices in the Dominican Republic has remained stable since 2019. In the global ranking for spice consumption in 2023, the Dominican Republic held the 81st position. Slovakia edged out the Dominican Republic, also consuming 3,000 metric tons. Leading the rankings were Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively. On the production front, the Dominican Republic maintained a steady output of 1,000 metric tons in both 2017 and 2018.
