Algerian spice consumption is projected to decline to approximately 31,000 metric tons by 2028, a slight decrease from the current 32,000 metric tons in 2023. This reflects an average yearly drop of 0.3%. Despite this downward trend, Algeria's demand for spices had been growing at an annual rate of 0.6% since 2019. On the production side, Algeria is also expected to see a decline, with output predicted to fall to around 14,000 metric tons by 2028, down from 14,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 0.4%. Since 2019, the country's spice production has remained stable. In 2023, Algeria ranked 42nd in global spice production. Spain slightly outpaced Algeria with an output of 14,000 metric tons. Leading the global production rankings are China, Nigeria, and Indonesia, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
