Ecuador surpassed Cabo Verde, also producing 2,000 metric tons. Leading the global rankings are China, Nigeria, and Indonesia, holding the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. Cabo Verdean spice consumption stood at 2,000 metric tons in 2018, maintaining the same level as in 2017. This indicates no significant increase in domestic demand over that period.
