Ghanaian consumption of spices is projected to reach 111,000 metric tons by 2028, up from 110,000 metric tons in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 0.1%. Since 2019, Ghana’s spice demand has been increasing at an average rate of 0.7% per year. In 2023, Ghana ranked 18th in global spice consumption, with Saudi Arabia surpassing it with 110,000 metric tons. Leading the rankings for spice consumption were Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. On the production side, Ghana’s spice output is expected to rise to 126,000 metric tons by 2028, up from 123,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents an average annual growth rate of 0.4%. Since 2019, Ghanaian spice production has grown at an average rate of 0.7% per year. In 2023, Ghana was ranked 14th in global spice production, with Ivory Coast slightly ahead at 123,000 metric tons. China, Nigeria, and Indonesia were the top three producers, holding the second, third, and fourth spots respectively.
