Since 2019, Greek demand for spices has remained consistent. In 2023, Greece ranked 63rd globally in spice consumption. Portugal slightly outpaced Greece, registering a similar consumption level of around 6,000 metric tons. Leading the rankings were Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. In terms of production, Greece has also shown stability. The country's spice production stood at roughly 1,000 metric tons in 2018, maintaining the same level as the previous year, 2017.
