Demand for Moldavian grapes is set to reach 181 thousand metric tons in 2026, an increase of 1.9% annually compared to 2021. This is a slight decrease since 2017, when demand was down 0.4% year-on-year. In 2021, Moldova was ranked 27th in terms of grape consumption, overtaken by Albania with 161 thousand metric tons. The United States, India and Iran were the top three countries in this ranking. Production of Moldavian grapes is expected to reach 719,060 metric tons in 2026, a 0.7% increase on the 2021 figure of 689,580 metric tons. Since 1997, supply has grown by 2.3% annually. In 2021, Russia overtook Moldova with 689,580 metric tons, ranking 22nd in the world. Italy, the United States and Spain came in second, third and fourth respectively.
