Grape consumption in Iran is set to drop slightly by 2026, decreasing from 1.46 million metric tons to 1.41 million metric tons. This marks an average annual decline of 0.6%. Since 2017, demand for grapes in Iran has dropped 3.4% each year. In 2021, India topped the ranking at 1.46 million metric tons, followed by the United States, India and Iran at numbers 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Meanwhile, Iranian grape production is expected to fall from 1.84 million metric tons in 2021 to 1.68 million metric tons by 2026, at an average rate of 1.6% per year. Since 1966, supply of grapes in Iran has declined 0.3% annually. South Africa led the ranking in 2021 at 1.84 million metric tons, followed by Italy, the United States and Spain in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
