Maltese melon production is set to drop by 10.3% year on year on average, reaching about 1,000 metric tons by 2026. This is a decrease of 5.9% since 1966. In 2021, Malta was ranked 72nd on a global scale in terms of melon production, with 1,860 metric tons. It was overtaken by Montenegro. India, Kazakhstan and Iran were ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
