Production of melons in India is set to reach 1.5 million metric tons by 2026. This is up from 1.3 million metric tons in 2021, representing an average year-on-year growth rate of 2%. Since 1966, Indian melon production has grown by an average of 7% each year. In 2021, China overtook India to become the leading producer of melons, with 1.3 million metric tons. India, Kazakhstan and Iran came in second, third and fourth, respectively.
