Cabo Verdean coconut production is due to decrease slightly in the next five years. Last year, Cabo Verde produced 5,080 metric tons of coconut, ranking 67th in the world. This was just short of Sierra Leone, which overtook them with 5,080 metric tons. India, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka were the top three producers in the world. Cabo Verdean coconut imports reached 3,000 metric tons in 2018, up from 3,000 metric tons in 2017. From 1966 onwards, the country has seen an average yearly increase of 4.9%.
