Coconut imports to Papua New Guinea are projected to drop slightly in the coming years, declining by 0.7% year on year. In 2021, the country imported 338,000 metric tons of coconut, down from an average of 1.3% year on year since 2017. Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea's coconut production is expected to increase by 0.7% year on year, reaching 1,267,600 metric tons by 2026. Since 1966, the country's supply has grown by 0.5% year on year. In 2021, Papua New Guinea ranked eighth in coconut production, with Mexico overtaking it at 1,217,200 metric tons. India, the Philippines and Sri Lanka ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
