Mozambican banana consumption is set to rise to nearly 500,000 metric tons by 2026, according to a recent report. This is an increase of 2% since 2017. In 2021, the country was the 31st biggest banana consumer, with 461,000 metric tons, behind Uganda with the same amount. China, Indonesia, and Brazil were the top three banana-consuming nations. Meanwhile, Mozambican banana production is expected to reach just over 924,000 metric tons by 2026. This is an 8.6% growth since 1966. In 2021, the country was the 25th largest banana producer, with 783,000 metric tons, slightly behind Bangladesh. China, Indonesia, and Brazil were the top three banana-producing countries.
