Guyanese banana consumption is set to reach 16,520 metric tons by 2026, up from 15,000 metric tons in 2021. This represents an average growth of 1.7% year-on-year since 2017. This puts Guyana at 108th place in the global rankings, overtaken by Gabon with 15,000 metric tons. China, Indonesia and Brazil are the top three countries for banana consumption. Guyana's banana production is also predicted to reach 17,350 metric tons by 2026, rising from 15,810 metric tons in 2021 for a yearly growth rate of 1.7%. Since 1966, Guyanese production has increased by 0.3% year-on-year. This places the country at 78th place in the global rankings, surpassed by Somalia with 15,810 metric tons. Once again, China, Indonesia and Brazil take the lead in the rankings.
