Jamaicans are set to consume 67,000 metric tons of bananas by 2026, a 1.2% annual rise since 2017. In 2021, Jamaica was the 80th biggest consumer of bananas, while Sweden had overtaken it with 62,000 metric tons. China, Indonesia and Brazil ranked second, third and fourth respectively in the same year. Banana production in Jamaica is expected to reach 61,610 metric tons by 2026, with a 0.4% year-on-year decline since 1966. In 2021, Jamaica was the 62nd biggest producer of bananas, while Puerto Rico had overtaken it with 63,230 metric tons. China, Indonesia and Brazil came in second, third and fourth respectively in this ranking.
