Nicaraguan banana production is on the up. By 2026, the country is projected to produce around 121,000 metric tons - a 2% increase year-on-year, on average. This follows a steady rise since 1966, when the country recorded a 0.2% year-on-year increase. In 2021, Nicaragua came 55th in the global rankings with 107,730 metric tons, behind Yemen in 54th place. China, Indonesia and Brazil occupied the top three spots respectively.
