Zambia's consumption of bananas is set to dip to 660,000 metric tons in 2026, down 10% from 2021's 1 million tons. This demand has fallen by 20.6% since 2017. In 2021, Zambia was the 141st largest consumer, with Grenada ahead of it at 1 million tons. China, Indonesia and Brazil were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th biggest consumers respectively. Zambia's banana production is projected to decline by 0.5% year-on-year to around 619,000 metric tons in 2026. This supply has decreased by 0.7% since 1966. In 2021, the country was 103rd in the world for banana production, behind American Samoa at 637,000 metric tons. China, Indonesia and Brazil were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th largest producers, respectively.
