Cypriot banana consumption is predicted to remain steady over the next five years. In 2021 it stood at 9,000 metric tons, placing it in 117th place. Mauritania overtook the country with the same amount of consumption. China, Indonesia and Brazil were the top three countries in terms of consumption, respectively. Cypriot banana production looks set to decline by 2% between 2021 and 2026. In 2021, 5,230 metric tons were produced, putting the country in 88th place. Wallis and Futuna overtook Cypriot production, while China, Indonesia and Brazil were the top three producers.
