Ethiopia's wine production saw a significant decline in 2023, totaling approximately 320 metric tons. This marks a decrease of about 17% compared to the previous year's production of 387 metric tons. Since 1998, the country's wine supply has been on a downward trend, decreasing by roughly 14% year on year. In 2023, Ethiopia ranked 61st globally in wine production, with Jordan surpassing it by producing the same amount, 320 metric tons. The top spots in the ranking were occupied by France, Spain, and the United States, which held the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. On the consumption front, Ethiopia's wine intake remained stable at around 2,000 metric tons in both 2017 and 2018.
