Tanzanian wine consumption is projected to decline significantly over the next five years, dropping from 2,000 metric tons in 2023 to approximately 780 metric tons by 2028. This represents a sharp annual decrease of 14.8% in the compound annual growth rate (CAGR). The downward trend isn't new for Tanzania. Since 2019, the country's wine demand has been falling steadily, with an average annual decline of 7.8%. In the global context, Tanzania was ranked 98th in wine consumption in 2023. Barbados narrowly edged out Tanzania, also reporting a consumption level of around 2,000 metric tons. Leading the global rankings, France, the United States, and Italy held the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
