The trend of declining wine production in Algeria is not new; since 1966, the country's wine supply has been shrinking at an average rate of 0.2% per year. In the global rankings for 2023, Algeria was placed 27th in wine production. Uruguay, with a similar production level of around 54,000 metric tons, ranked just ahead of Algeria. Leading the charts were France, Spain, and the United States, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
