Revenue from Portuguese wine is expected to reach nearly €1.9 billion by 2026, up 1% annually since 2013. The country was in fifth place in 2021 with €1.7 billion, behind Germany, Italy, Spain and the United States. Consumption of Portuguese wine is set to decline by 0.2% annually until 2026, reaching 412,000 metric tons. Since 2017, Portuguese demand has decreased by 2% year-on-year, and in 2021 South Africa overtook the country in 11th place, with France, the United States and Italy taking the top three spots. Finally, Portuguese wine production is projected to dip 1% each year to 546,000 metric tons by 2026. Since 1966, production has decreased by 4.3% annually, and in 2021 South Africa again overtook the country at 10th place, with France, Spain and the United States in the top three.
