Algeria is set to become the 11th largest eggplant producer in the world. Production is forecast to grow 3% annually, from 200,000 metric tons in 2021 to 238,000 metric tons by 2026. This marks an increase of almost 10% since 1982. Mexico overtook Algeria in 2021, producing 200,000 metric tons. India, Egypt and Iran made up the remaining top four eggplant producers, with India leading the pack.
