Macedonian eggplant production is on the rise. In 2021, the country produced 1.1 million metric tons of the vegetable, up 2% from 1997. Macedonia was ranked 67th in the world in 2021. Cyprus came ahead of Macedonia with 1.1 million metric tons. India, Egypt, and Iran followed in second, third, and fourth place respectively. Macedonian eggplant production is expected to reach 1.2 million metric tons by 2026. That's an average growth rate of 1.6% year-on-year.
