Chile is set to become the fifth-largest producer of walnuts in the world by 2026, according to recent projections. In 2021, the country produced around 133,000 metric tons of walnuts, and this is expected to increase by 3.2% annually over the next five years, bringing production up to just over 163,000 metric tons by 2026. Since 1979, Chilean walnut production has grown by 8.2% year on year, and currently, the country is behind Ukraine, the United States, Iran and Mexico in the world rankings.
