Azerbaijan is on its way to becoming one of the world’s leading walnut producers. Production is set to reach 13,000 metric tons by 2026, growing at an average rate of 1.3% year on year. Since 1997, production has increased by 4.8% year on year. In 2021, Azerbaijan came in at 20th place for walnut production, with a total of 12,000 metric tons. Afghanistan overtook Azerbaijan, producing 11,970 metric tons. The United States, Iran and Mexico were the world's top three walnut producers, respectively.
