In 2018, Kenyan exports of trout soared by 1,150%, rising from 30 kilograms in 2017 to 375 kilograms. This 36.2% year-on-year rise since 2004 put the country in 57th place, while Japan held on to the top spot with 375 kilograms. Sweden, the United Kingdom and Italy followed as the next biggest suppliers. Demand for Kenyan trout has surged 161% since 2013.
