Indonesia's paperboard export is estimated to reach 6.7 million metric tons by 2026, up from 5.8 million metric tons in 2021 – an average annual growth rate of 2.3%. Since 1984, Indonesian supply has increased by 8.7% year-on-year. In 2021, China overtook Indonesia to become the leading exporter of paperboard, followed by the United States, Sweden and Finland. Indonesia's paperboard import is also forecast to reach 810,080 metric tons by 2026, up from 680,760 metric tons in 2021 – a two percent year-on-year compound annual growth rate. Since 1966, Indonesian demand has grown by two percent year-on-year. Romania overtook Indonesia to become the 35th largest importer of paperboard in 2021, followed by Germany, the United States and Italy.
