Demand for paperboard in Cyprus is expected to decrease slightly in the coming years. According to industry analysts, Cypriot imports of paperboard are expected to fall to 41,320 metric tons by 2026, a 2% decrease year-on-year since 1966. In 2021, the country ranked 107th in the world, with Angola overtaking it with 45,870 metric tons. Germany, the United States, and Italy respectively ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Exports of paperboard from Cyprus also fell significantly in 2021. Supplies dropped to 43 metric tons from 63 metric tons in 2020, a decrease of 31.8%. Since 1997, exports of paperboard have decreased by 2.2% year-on-year. The country ranked 171st in 2021, with the Cook Islands overtaking it with 43 metric tons. The United States, Sweden, and Finland respectively ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
