Import of paperboard into Iraq is expected to increase in the coming years. Figures show that it is set to reach 174,660 metric tons by 2026, a 4.1% average year-on-year rise since 1966. In 2021, Iraq was in 82nd place in the ranking, with 135,730 metric tons. Germany, the US and Italy were the top three in that ranking. Meanwhile, paperboard exports from Iraq are set to decline over the same period. By 2026, it is expected to reach 54 metric tons, a 3.9% decrease year-on-year since 1997. Iraq was in 167th place in 2021, with 65 metric tons of exports. The US, Sweden and Finland were the top three countries in that ranking.
