Global paperboard exports are set to reach 116 million metric tons by 2026, up 0.3% from the current 112.8 million metric tons. Since 1966, global supply has decreased by 0.1% per year on average. In 2021, Germany was the number one exporter of paperboard at 14 million metric tons. The United States, Sweden, and Finland ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Uzbekistan experienced a 124.5% increase in exports year-on-year, while Uruguay saw a 42.1% decrease year-on-year since 1966. Global paperboard imports are set to reach 115.5 million metric tons by 2026, representing a 0.4% year-on-year increase since 1966. In 2021, China was the leading paperboard importer at 12.7 million metric tons. Germany, the United States, and Italy ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. South Sudan imports jumped 112.1% year-on-year, while Palestine decreased by 52.2% since 1966. European paperboard sales are projected to reach €92.6 billion by 2026, up 0.4% from the current €90.1 billion. Since 2016, the European market has risen 0.8% annually. In 2021, Germany was the number one paperboard sales market at €14.4 billion. Finland, Sweden, and Austria ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Austria experienced an 18.2% year-on-year increase, while France saw a 8% decrease since 2016.
