Since 1995, Burundian coffee supply has been on a downward trajectory, shrinking by an average of 4.8% each year. As of 2023, Burundi ranked 29th in global coffee production. East Timor narrowly surpassed Burundi in 2023, also producing around 139,000 bags of coffee. Leading the global rankings were Vietnam, Colombia, and Indonesia, holding the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
