Tanzanian coffee production is projected to reach approximately 1.3 million 60-kg bags by 2028, up from around 1.2 million bags in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 1.5%. Despite this growth, Tanzanian coffee supply has remained stagnant since 1995, with a 0% year-on-year increase over the period. In 2023, Tanzania ranked 15th globally in coffee production. Costa Rica surpassed Tanzania, also producing around 1.2 million bags. Leading the rankings were Vietnam, Colombia, and Indonesia, holding the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. On the consumption front, Tanzanian coffee consumption dropped dramatically to zero metric tons in 2018, down from 5,000 metric tons in 2017. This sharp decline is a stark contrast to the country's production trends.
