Historical data since 1995 indicates a consistent annual decline of 1.4%. In 2023, Rwanda ranked 27th in global coffee production, with Venezuela slightly ahead, also producing about 250,000 bags of 60 kg. Leading the rankings were Vietnam, Colombia, and Indonesia, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. Meanwhile, Rwandan coffee consumption has drastically decreased, plummeting to zero metric tons in 2018 from one metric ton in 2017.
