Sierra Leone's coffee production is projected to decline significantly over the next five years. By 2028, the West African nation's output is expected to reach approximately 17,000 bags, each weighing 60 kilograms. This marks a sharp decrease from the nearly 25,000 bags produced in 2023, translating to an average annual decline of 6.1%. Historical data underscores this downturn. Since 1995, Sierra Leone's coffee supply has been contracting by an average of 4.3% each year. As of 2023, the country ranked 41st globally in coffee production. In contrast, Sri Lanka, which also produced around 25,000 bags this year, edged out Sierra Leone in the rankings. Leading the global coffee production were Vietnam, Colombia, and Indonesia, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
