Consumption of peppers in Egypt is set to decrease slightly over the next five years. In 2021, 56 thousand metric tons of peppers were consumed, a 0.7% decrease from the previous year. Since 2017, demand for peppers has dropped by an average of 1.1%. Meanwhile, production of peppers in Egypt is expected to grow by 1.5% each year until 2026. This year, the country produced 783,700 metric tons of peppers, placing it in fifth place. Mexico, Indonesia and Spain respectively ranked second, third and fourth in 2021. Since 1966, Egyptian pepper production has increased by an average of 5% each year.
