Consumption of Ethiopian Peppers is projected to rise to 270,000 metric tons by 2026, a 2.6% annual increase from 2021. Demand has grown at a steady rate of 1.1% since 2017. Production of peppers in Ethiopia dropped 13.8% to 42,360 metric tons in 2021, down from 49,130 metric tons in 2020. Supply has declined by 7.3% year-on-year since 1998. Ethiopia was ranked 52nd in 2021, with North Korea overtaking it to take the number one spot. Mexico, Indonesia, and Spain were the second, third and fourth largest producers, respectively.
