Iranians are set to consume 4 million metric tons of peppers in 2026, the same amount as in 2021. This demand has been steady since 2017. At the same time, Iranian production of peppers is expected to reach 113,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 101,000 metric tons in 2021. This is an average annual increase of 1.8%. Since 1995, Iran’s pepper production has grown by an average of 2.2% each year. In 2021, the country was the 28th largest producer of peppers, while Serbia was the top producer at 101,000 metric tons. Mexico, Indonesia and Spain ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively.
