This represents an annual growth rate of 2.3%, according to recent data. Since 2019, the demand for oilseeds in Costa Rica has increased by approximately 0.9% each year. In the global ranking for 2023, Costa Rica holds the 96th position in oilseeds consumption, just behind Nicaragua, which also recorded 24,000 metric tons. Leading the list are India, Indonesia, and Brazil, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots respectively. On the production front, Costa Rica is expected to boost its oilseeds output to 276,440 metric tons by 2028, up from 258,300 metric tons in 2023. This marks an annual growth rate of 1.1%. Historical data reveals that since 1966, the country's oilseeds supply has grown by an average of 1.2% annually. In 2023, Costa Rica ranked 61st in global oilseeds production, with Iran narrowly ahead, also producing 258,300 metric tons. Dominating the top spots in production are Brazil, Malaysia, and the United States, ranking second, third, and fourth respectively.
