In 2023, Belize was ranked 140th in oilseeds consumption globally, with Moldova slightly ahead at the same consumption level of 2,000 metric tons. Leading the global rankings were India, Indonesia, and Brazil, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. On the production front, Belizean oilseeds output is projected to increase to around 2,610 metric tons by 2028, up from approximately 2,210 metric tons in 2023. This represents an annual growth rate of 2.6%. Historically, however, Belize's oilseeds supply has seen a slight decline, averaging a 1% decrease per year since 1966. In 2023, Belize ranked 148th globally in oilseeds production, with Suriname surpassing it at the same production level of 2,210 metric tons. The top producers in this category were Brazil, Malaysia, and the United States, holding the second, third, and fourth ranks respectively.
