Fijian oilseeds consumption is projected to reach 29,000 metric tons by 2028, up from 25,000 metric tons in 2023. This equates to an average annual growth rate of 2.2%. Since 2019, Fijian demand for oilseeds has grown by an average of 3.6% each year. In contrast, Fijian oilseeds production saw a dramatic decline in 2023. The country's output plummeted to 62 metric tons, a steep 91.4% drop from the 722 metric tons produced in 2022. This continues a long-term trend, with production decreasing by an average of 54.1% annually since 1966. As of 2023, Fiji ranked 176th in global oilseeds production, with Montenegro narrowly ahead, also producing 62 metric tons. Leading the global rankings were Brazil, Malaysia, and the United States, holding the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
