Tomato consumption in Ethiopia is set to reach 30,000 metric tons by 2026, according to a report from 2021. This is a 2.9% increase from the 25,000 metric tons consumed in 2021. Since 2017, Ethiopian demand has increased an average of 2.8% year on year. In 2021, Ethiopia ranked 110th in the world for tomato consumption, with Zimbabwe coming in ahead at 25,000 metric tons. India, the US and Egypt were the top three countries. Tomato production in Ethiopia is forecast to reach 24,160 metric tons by 2026, down 3.2% from the 29,270 metric tons produced in 2021. Since 1998, Ethiopian supply has increased 0.6% year on year. In 2021, the country ranked 103rd in the world for tomato production, with Ecuador coming in ahead at 29,270 metric tons.
