Mexican demand for tomatoes is set to increase over the coming years. In 2021, Mexico ranked 9th in global tomato consumption, with Nigeria overtaking the country with 2,750 thousand metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Mexican production of tomatoes is also expected to grow. Supply is predicted to reach 5,048,200 metric tons by 2026, a 1.7% year on year CAGR increase from 4,571,600 metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, Mexican production has risen 2.5% year on year. In 2021, the country ranked 8th in global tomato production, with Iran coming in ahead with 4,571,600 metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt were respectively ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
